Ingredients:
1 pound ground beef
1 large yellow onion, chopped
3 cloves garlic, minced
1 tablespoon cumin
2 tablespoons chili powder
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
1 20-ounce can tomatoes, chopped
1 green bell pepper, chopped
1 cup red wine (dry) (optional)
salt and pepper to taste
1 pound uncooked kidney beans
Preparation:
Cover beans with 2"-3" water. Bring to boil, remove from heat and let stand 1 hour. Drain and set aside. Brown ground beef with onion and garlic. Add remaining ingredients. Cover and simmer about 1 hour.
Variations: Use black beans instead of kidney beans. Add fresh ground ginger, paprika or cocoa.
